Анотація
У статті розглянуто проблему політичної коректності у публіцистичних текстах та їх основні функції. Єдине
визначення політичної коректності відсутнє в англійському словнику, тому автор намагається розкрити найкоректніше визначення та сферу його вживання. Політична коректність розглядається, як один з найважливіших елементів у комунікаційній сфері. Вона має за мету запобігти дискримінацію різних соціальних груп, які належать
до різних видів меншин, таких як: національні, сексуальні тощо. Представники цих та інших соціальних груп завжди
знаходяться у зоні ризику дискримінації через різноманітні висловлювання людей, тому завданням політичної коректності є заміна таких слів на нейтральні. Особливо важливою є питання присутності політичної коректності у сфері освіти. Це пов’язано з багатоетнічним складом учнів, тому толерантне відношення до всіх учасників навчального процесу є одним із найголовніших завдань сучасної американської освіти. На прикладах з американських газет та журналів розкрито значення використання найбільш проблематичних визначень та термінів. Автором зазначено, що США є найяскравішим прикладом впровадження та дії норм політичної коректності у суспільстві. Це пов’язано із багатонаціональним складом населення та різними культурними процесами, які відбуваються у країні.
ЗМІ відіграє важливу роль у житті суспільства та їх головним завданням є запобігання вживання слів, які можуть
дискримінувати певну особистість, цей принцип базується виключно на засадах політичної коректності.
(The article deals with the problem of the political correctness in publicist texts and its main functions. The only definition of the political correctness is absent in the English vocabulary, so the author tries to disclose the most correct definitions and sphere of use of this statement. Political correctness is determined to be one of the most important elements in the communicational
sphere. It has the aim to avoid the discrimination of different social groups that belong to social minorities such as national, sexual etc. The representatives of these and other social groups have the risk to be discriminated by means of certain statements that are used by people, so the task of the political correctness is to change such words into neutral ones. Especially important is the presence of the political correctness in the sphere of education. The reason of this aspect lies in the multiethnic
content of pupils, so the tolerant attitude to all the members of educational process is one of the leading tasks of modern American education. On the examples from American newspapers and magazines the use of the most problematic statements are disclosed. The author has noticed that the USA is a great example of consideration of all the rules of the political correctness.
It is connected with multinational content of society and with different cultural processes in the country. Mass media is very important aspect of the social life and to avoid the words that may discriminate certain personalities is its leading task.)
