Анотація
У статті проаналізовано зміни геополітичного становища на Закавказзі, завдяки яким вірмени отримали змогу відновити власну незалежну державу у 884–886 рр. Розкрито особливості арабо-візантійського протистояння, як одного з факторів відновлення Вірменської державності. Охарактеризовано вірмено-візантійські та вірмено-арабські відносини наприкінці ІХ ст.
(The aim of this article is to analyze the change in geopolitical situation in Trancaucasia, which
enabled Armenians to restore their independent state in 885. We examine the reasons of decline
of the Arab caliphate and strengthening of the Byzantine Empire in the second half of the ninth
century. We take a closer look at the internal factors that contributed to the consolidation of the
Armenian nobility and making alliance with Byzantine Empire. The Arab-Byzantine conflict is
considered to be among the factors which lead to restoration of the Armenian independence. The
article gives the characteristics of the Armenian-Byzantine and Armenian-Arab relations in the
late ninth century.)
