Анотація
Розглянуто візантійсько-половецькі зіткнення у другій половині ХІІ ст. та роль Галицького князівства в них. Робляться висновки, що союз Галицького князівства з Візантією проти половців укладено на межі ХІІ–ХІІІ ст. Економічні та зовнішньополітичні інтереси Галича й Константинополя співпадали, тому підпорядкування Галичу Нижнього Подунав’я зумовило послаблення половецької загрози для імперії.
(Byzantine-Cumans collisions in the second half of the XIIth century, the role of Galician principality in the confrontation, development of Byzantine-Galician relations as allies are considered. Attention is focused on the area of the Lower Danube – the springboard for the raids
of the Cumans in Byzantium and on the relations of the Galician principality with the nomads.
Conclusions are drawn that alliance of the Galician Principality and Byzantium against the Cumans was concluded on the verge of the XII–XIIth centuries. The economic and foreign policy interests of Galich and Constantinople matched, therefore submission of the Lower Danube to the
Galich led to the weakening of the Cumans’ threat on the empire.)
