Анотація

У статті висвітлено процес формування критеріїв нормативності української літературної мови, дискутований у наукових працях харківських мовознавців 20–30 рр. ХХ ст. Проаналізовано рекомендації М. Сулими та М. Гладкого щодо внормування орфоепічних, лексичних і граматичних мовних явищ.
(The article highlights the formation process of Ukrainian literary language normative criteria, debated
in scientific articles by Kharkiv linguists of 20 – 30 years of the twentieth century. The author pays attention
to the discussion on the problem of creating a literary standard, which took place on the pages of socio-political, literary-artistic, scientific and educational journals of Kharkiv and was participated by famous linguists and literary critics. Systemized views of M. Sulyma and M. Gladkyi who were the most active participants of the discussion; their works defined the bases of Ukrainian literary language, grounded normative criteria and analyzed typical linguistic phenomena that needed normalization. Outlined optimal valuation principles formulated by M. Sulyma, such as: the widest usage and naturalness of language fact in the folk language; its convenience in terms of its linguistic progress; prevalence and usefulness in artistic and scientific language.
Analyzed recommendations for normalization of orthoepic, lexical and grammatical linguistic phenomena.
Noted that typical violations of pronunciation and usage that are caused by prolonged foreign-language
influence (mostly Russian), encourage to consider ethnographic criteria. Among morphological phenomena
especially singled out the wrong use of active participles of present time with -chyj, -shyj, -schyj, -myj endings.
Attention is focused in syntax on normative use of prepositional structures, complex idiomatic phrases,
use of so-called «passive phrases with instrumentals of person», unsteady constructions phrases from two
numerals two, both, three, four; distributed in press «polonized» ablative conjunction with «is» and others.
Noted the relevance of the criteria specified in the works of linguists for normalization of Ukrainian literary language during the twentieth century.)
