Abstract
The EU experience in the fi eld of forming and realizing the ecological safety strategy was considered in the article. The review of the historical stages of the EU ecological policy developing was presented. The priority directions of the 7th EU Programme action in the field of the environment were presented. The regional peculiarities of the EU ecological policy were analyzed and summed up. The role and place of the EU in the international format of fighting the global ecological problems were shown.
