Abstract
(The article is devoted to the problems that arise in defining the concepts of "rights", "freedom" and "responsibilities". Indicates the existence of a methodological problem of research, there are two dimensions - individual and social. There are three ways of defining the concepts - etymological, hermeneutical and economic. Indicates the possibilities and limitations of each of them. It is proposed to define three concepts in the unity and interconnection between them, which reduces the number of definitions. Modern advances in economic theory open up new opportunities for overcoming the methodological problem.)
