Анотація
Варіативність мовних явищ як ознака когнітивної організації мови. М.М.Медвідь У статті робиться спроба диференціювати терміни, що паралельно існують в лінгвістичній літературі, – варіативність / варіантність, виявити загальні закономірності, властиві явищу варіативності на різних рівнях мовної ієрархії, дослідити проблеми функціональної асиметрії форми і вмісту.
(Variability of Language Phenomena as a Feature of the Cognitive Language Development. Medvid M. M. Language being
a product of the human mind and output of the cognitive activity relates to various systems of the processing of information which results in the variability of consciousness structures. These structures are not identical. The article focuses on the variability as a feature of the cognitive language development. Variability is an inherent feature of the language system which
is stipulated by the asymmetry of a linguistic sign and implies, on the one hand, the possibility to verbalize the same content by different linguistic signs and, on the other hand, the ability of a linguistic unit to be a means of expressing more than one meaning. An attempt has been made to differentiate terms which exist in linguistics and are used simultaneously – variability and variance; to reveal a consistent pattern which are peculiar to the phenomenon of variability at all levels of the language hierarchy; to investigate problems of functional asymmetry of the plane of content and the plane of expression. It has been
revealed that in the linguistics there is a tendency to use the term «variance» to describe the phenomena which correlate as «norm – variant» where «norm» is a manifold of units which are used in the language and «variant» is a deviation and to use the term «variability» to describe the phenomena which correlate as «invariant – variant» where «variant» is a phenomenon which really exists unlike «invariant» – a certain abstraction. Variability is a source and a product of the cognitive language development at the same time.)
