(At the turn of the twenty first century, concepts such as «mundane
activities», the «prevailing mind-set» and the «history of
women», have been in the midst of a specific scientific scrutiny, in
the context of Moldovan historical science. The given issue has remained,
for a long while, outside the scope of historical research.
An
outright
twist
of
the
scientific
prospect,
that
came
across
in
the
early
90’s,
led
to
the
confrontation
of
the
younger
generation of Moldovan historians to a new, pro-Western approach of historical
science.
Heretofore,
the
matter
of
«women’s
history»
has
encountered
several
difficulties
in
assimilating
an
academic
environment,
notably
due
to
a
largely
deceitful
assertion
concerning
its
scientific
«scantiness»/deficiency.
According
to
the
adherents
of
this view, «women’s history» bears a declaratory character,
aiming for a persistent promotion of the feminist movement, thus
concealing a political mandate for gender equality progression.
Above all, the political sphere (notably politicians or leading
political parties) has particularly speculated on issues relating to
the legal and social status of women or on women’s demands for
equality with men, leading to extensive party populism, especially
around elections.
Unequivocally, considering the specific case of Moldova, neither
the
constitution,
nor
any
other
current
government
declaration
renders
at
this
point
the
real
situation
in
the
matter
of
gender
equality.
Subsidiarity,
none
of
the
earlier
mentioned
legal
instruments
contributes to the resolution of women’s issues.
Since
a
predominant
part
of
the
Moldovan
historical
heritage
is
defined by the European culture, a comparative approach to
historical research as well as the use of the «new social history»
method, will allow an emphatic highlight of Moldova’s historical
events.
The
creation
and
the
insertion
of
new
historical
trends
represent
an
irreversible
process,
which
is
strongly
substantiated
by
the internationalisation of science.
The
study of «women’s history» requires an integrated approach,
conducted with a specific contrivance regarding the interpretation
and
documentary
presentation
methodology.
It
bears
an
interdisciplinary
nature,
as
its
research
scope
includes
subjects
such
as history, law, ethnology or social demography.
Our
persuasion regarding the subject of women’s history,
is that it primarily precludes from asymmetrical interpretation
of historical events; further, it tends to the emphasis of political
and cultural identities, furthermore, it allows the enlargement of
the research scope, seeing that it includes the study of «mundane
activities», «spirituality» and «the use of personality»; finally, it
avoids the politicization and dissimulation of history.
The study of «women’s history» is believed to remedy the plane
political perception of history, directing researchers towards full
anthropological discernment.)
