Abstract

Стаття присвячена дослідженню функцій вербального знака у британському полікодовому художньому тексті початку XXI століття. Зазначено характерні функції вербального знака як компонента полікодового тексту: інформативна, комунікативна, емотивна, естетична, атрактивна, фатична, дейктична.
(The article is devoted to the analysis of semiotic nature of a postmodern literary text and the functions of its verbal sign. The texts of British literature of the beginning of the XXI century served the material for analysis. A multisemiotic text is a complex system of interrelated and interdependent elements forming a complex unity. In this sense, relations between verbal and non-verbal signs are important to create a single text space. Verbal signs are integral parts and essential properties of texts. Taking into consideration a verbal component, it is worth indicating that its role in a multisemiotic literary text can vary, since both text and images can bear the main semantic load. The characteristic functions of a verbal sign as a component of a multisemiotic text are indicated: informative, communicative, emotional, aesthetic, attractive, factual, deictic. The analysis of a multisemiotic text demonstrates that the combination and mutual integration of elements of different semiotic systems is its inherent property and it confirms the fact that a multisemiotic text components appear as a single structural and semantic unit, aimed at pragmatic effect on the recipient.)
