Анотація
Cтаття аналізує нові підходи до вивчення ідіостилю, з його зосередженістю на ментальній стороні мовних
явищ, розглядає лінгвокогнітивні механізми формування орієнтаційного складника авторського когнітивного стилю
через розкриття його візуально-топологічного компоненту засобом відтворення комунікативно-когнітивних стра-
тегій і тактик в романах сучасної британської письменниці М. Дреббл.
(The paper deals with verbalisation of the visual-spatial component of the orientational constituent of M. Drabble’s
cognitive style within the framework of the cognitive-discoursive paradigm. On the basis of the major cognitive functions of perception, a cognitive style of a writer is defined as a unity of orientational and figurative constituents that reveal perceptive and mental peculiarities of a linguistic personality in the literary work. The constituents of a cognitive style are closely related
in cognition. Therefore, in the article the orientational constituent in M. Drabble’s novels is focused on and analysed in the light of the writer’s strategies and tactics.
The orientational constituent of the author’s cognitive style is a complicated structure, because it reflects a person’s interaction with the surroundings. It consists of visual and visual-spatial components since it depends on visual perception and space orientation. A visual component of the writer’s cognitive style, realized through the strategy of distancing-approaching
in the text, characterises the author’s visual orientation that lies in opposition of a central point to peripheral one. A visualspatial component of the orientational constituent of a cognitive style is formed as a result of interaction between the speaker’s
space orientation and conceptual eyesight limit, formed from visual perception. A visual-spatial component is based on
topological and spatial-perceptual Gestalts, which are realised by means of space representation strategies, dynamic and static tactics. The descriptions of the observer’s movement of the look and the character’s position inside and outside indicate the interplay between eyesight and tactile perception that are formalized by spatial-motor Gestalts.)
