Анотація

Purpose. The main purpose of the research study is to present resources and barriers to nurturing the educational resilience of the university students – future teachers of English, through the prism of the Ukrainian-Slovak-Polish-Czech dimension. Design/methodology/approach. The research sample includes 202 respondents from University of Bielsko-Biala in Poland, Palacký University of Olomouc in Czech Republic, University of Žilina in Slovakia, and the National University of Ostroh Academy in Ukraine. Methodological tools applied in the study are a direct associative test, Lay Procrastination Scale, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Spearman’s correlation coefficient and one-factor analysis of variance ANOVA. Findings. The study reveals differences in the indicators of bilingualism, resilience, and procrastination with the students of all four universities and the preference for medium and high levels of procrastination of Slovaks, Czechs, Poles, as well as Ukrainians. It indicates the need to search for the ways to overcome procrastination in order to develop the resilience according to the results of the correlation of indicators among Slovak students. The study also refers to the constructive role of bilingualism in the development of the resilience of Ukrainian students. Originality/value. The research results will be useful for Ukrainian, Slovak, Czech and Polish present and future teachers who need to prevent their emotional exhaustion in everyday but also emergency situations.
