Анотація
У статті йдеться про конфлікт культурних ідентичностей кочівників і землеробів, історично зумовлений приходом первісно кочового народу Ізраїлю на території автохтонних народів-землеробів, відомі під збірним іменем «Ханаан», та підпорядкуванням останніх. Конфлікт виявляється у змісті легенди про Сема, Хама і Яфета (Бут 9, 18–27), витвореної з метою світоглядного та правового обґрунтування заселення територій народів-землеробів народом Ізраїлю. Для розкриття саме такого змісту легенди використовується метод етимологічної герменевтики власних імен як способу визначення приблизного датування тексту, а також – змісту тексту та наміру його авторів чи редакторів. Аналізуючи значення власних імен персонажів легенди, автор доходить висновку, що їхня етимологія – грецька, а отже, легенду потрібно датувати елліністичним періодом. Водночас автор готовий визнати, що грецька етимологія згаданих власних імен вторинна й похідна, якщо фахівці з давньоєврейської мови й Старозавітної біблістики доведуть, що їхня семітська етимологія – давніша за грецьку. У такому випадку легенда мала б інше значення.
(The article deals with the conflict of cultural identities of nomads and agriculturists, caused historically by coming
of the initially nomad people of Irsael on the territories of the autochthon peoples-agriculturists, collectively named
as «Chanaan», and by subduing of the latter. The conflict becomes apparent in the content of the legend on Sem, Ham
and Japheth (Gen 9, 18 – 27), created in order to give a wold-view and legal basing for colonizing of territories of the autochthon peoples-agriculturists of Chanaan by people of Israel. The author assumes, that a need in such a legend
arose, when Israel was in the neighborhood of the empires of Ptolemai and Seleucids, waged wars with the latter
(Machabean wars, 175 – 135 B.C.) and thus it was necessary to base a legal bond of Israel with the territories, which it has occupied since the time of crossing the Jordan river and conquering of Chanaan by Joshua, son of Nun (near 1200
B.C.). In order to unfold exactly such a meaning of the legend the author uses the method of etymological hermeneutics of proper names as a way of determining an approximate dating of a text, as well as its content and intention of its authors or editors. After having analyzed the meaning of the proper names of personnages of the legend, the author draws conclusion, that their etymology is Greek, therefore one needs to date this legend with Hellenistic periode. At the same time, the author is ready to admit, that the Greek etymology of the mentioned proper names is secondary and derived, if the specialists in the branches of the Old Hebrew and the Old Testament Bible Science would prove, that a Semitic etymology of the mentioned proper names is more ancient, than the Greek one. In such a case the legend would have another meaning.)
