Анотація
У статті простежено формування понять «релігія», «віра», «атеїзм» та «наука» у філософській системі Гавриїла Костельника (1886–1948). Основна теза філософа: людина – релігійна істота. З неї вибудовується логічна система поглядів на релігію: релігія є загальним постійним чинником у житті людства, потребою людської природи, що ґрунтується на вірі, але й оперує знаннями. Атеїзм визначається філософом як специфічна протиприродня релігія. Він вказує на негатив від прийняття та розповсюдження атеїстичних поглядів. Проаналізова но майже усі твори Г. Костельника (як друковані, так і неопубліковані), в яких він порушував питання атеїзму.
(The formation of the concepts of «religion», «belief», «atheism» and «science» in the philosophical system of Gabriel Kostelnyk (1886–1948) is described. The main thesis of the philosopher says that man is a religious being. The statement results in a logical system of views on religion, namely, religion is a common permanent factor in the human life, religion is the need for the human nature which is based on faith but also operates with knowledge. G.Kostelnyk proposed a division of religions on different kinds and levels. The relation of religion to science and to ethics in his concept is analysed. The philosopher explained atheism as a specific unnatural religion. In a series of his works against atheism, Kostelnyk argued against myths that were created and distributed in his time, but are still relevant today, which state that atheism is not a religion but
only science; science won the religion; irreligious man is not only possible, but it is the future of humans; true (scientific,
progressive) ethics is the ethics independent of religion; religion is based on instinct, will, imagination, naive sense; religion is a private matter; religion is not important; the state should not be interested in religion; religious wars are not actual.
Wrong interpretation of scientific discoveries, incorrect interpretation of words «religion» – «science» – «atheism», promotion of religion as a «relic» and past stage of human development, all these led to faster acceptance of atheistic views among people. Kostelnyk demonstrated the negative consequences of the spread of atheistic views. Most of the Kostelnyk’s works devoted to atheism – as printed as unpublished manuscripts – are analysed. Some of them are considered for the first time.)
