Анотація
У статті проаналізовано лексико-семантичне наповнення кольоративу чорний/black у мовній картині світу
українців та англійців, розкрито полісемантичність лексеми на позначення чорного кольору, встановлено лекси-
ко-семантичні групи, компонентом яких є зазначений кольоратив, розглянуто кольоратив у складі фразеологічних
одиниць української та англійської мови.
(The paper is devoted to the brief analyses of traditional and modern usage of black color. The author compares various meanings and functioning in Ukrainian and English. The paper shows the directly opposite meanings of this color that depends on the context and functional language. In general, the color is a symbol of evil and pain or mental anguish etc. As a part of
word combination the color can be used in a such lexical and semantic groups as: social and politic events or phenomenon having negative results for a man or humanity in general; man’s nomination, descriptions or social status; the phenomena of a financial sphere; phenomena connected with week days; religious phenomena or groups; names of household goods; names of clothes; nomination of natural phenomena. The color black can also function as a part of Ukrainian and English idioms. In this way it serves for the purpose to depict the inner mental condition of a man; to show different relationships; to designate the qualitative and time characteristics.
The perspectives of given paper can be devoted to learning of this color as a part of author idiostyle, its functioning in another languages and comparing with different languages. It helps to widen the world view of various nations and makes significantly simpler the translators’ work.)
