Анотація
У статті представлено короткий аналіз історії лексикографічного осмислення слова і терміна ’омонім’ в українському мовознавстві. Виявлено певну однотипність тлумачення аналізованої одиниці і як слова, і як терміна, але також деяку недосконалість їхнього тлумачення.
(The study of the homonyms in Ukrainian linguistics began with two articles by L. Bulakhovsky «Iz zhizni omonimov»
and «De l’homonymie dans les langues slaves». It was in 1928, and from this time there is no completed research about the lexicographic interpretation of the word and the term ’homonym’ in this field of studies. That is why we propose a brief analysis of the definitions of this lexical unit as a common word and as a linguistic term. The common word ’homonym’ first appeared in two Ukrainian dictionaries, «Russian-Ukrainian Dictionary» (1924-1933) and «Orthographic dictionary» by H. Holoskevych (1929), but the definition of the term appeared before the definition of the word ’homonym’ in the «Dictionary
of linguistic terms» by Ye. Krotevych and N. Rodzevych in 1957. In other words after the term’s explanation, the word’s dictionary definition was shaped in Ukrainian linguistics. Namely, the word ’homonym’ was first defined in eleven volumes of «Ukrainian Language Dictionary» (1970-1980); then, in the «Big Ukrainian Language Dictionary» (seven editions from 2001 till 2009, Editor V. Busel); and «Ukrainian Language Dictionary» (Editor V. Zhajvoronok, 2012). All these explanations of the common word are the same as the term’s explanation. That is confusing, in view of the fact that the word and the term are different units of the language system. Therefore it is necessary to consider the information about the notion ’homonym’ from «Ukrainian Language Encyclopaedia» and to supplement the explanation of the common word and the term ’homonym’ in the modern Ukrainian dictionaries of different types.)
