Анотація
У статті представлена англійська термінологія ортодонтії з позиції когнітивної лінгвістики як концептосфера, структура, що упорядковується у вигляді різних за обсягом наповнення змістовою інформацією термінологічних
концептів, які формують шари за принципами змістового зв’язку та ієрархії. Розвиток науки, соціокультурні процеси визначають актуальність тих чи інших знань, зумовлюють інтегрування з іншими фаховими терміносферами,
породжуючи нові концепти, найсуттєвіші ознаки яких згодом експлікуються у вигляді термінологічних одиниць.
(Cognitive linguistics is a promising paradigm for the analysis of specialized language and the terminological units that chatacterized it. This article focuses on the peculiarities of conceptual presentation of expert and practical knowledge in orthodontic terminology, its conceptual description and modelling in terms of cognitive linguistics. In today’s society with its emphasis on science and technology, the way specialized knowledge concepts are named, structured, described, and translated has put terminology in the limelight. The paper describes an attempt to determine concepts underlying the terminological nomination in orthodontics, vectors of their interrelation and interaction.
Orthodontic terminology may be presented as a conceptual map, or a hierarchy tree formed by cognitive entities representing an abstraction of professional experience and knowledge. These entities may differ by their information capacity and significance of information. There are 4 top nodes (roots of the tree) described as orthodontic hyperconcepts dental and facial morphology / typical dentofacial anatomy; dentofacial anomalies; diagnosis of dentofacial anomalies; orthodontic treatment.
They serve as basic information centers in Orthodontics, and, in turn, each of them is branching into more detailed cognitive entities described as terminological concepts that refer to particular objects, phenomena, processes.
Identifying basic concepts may be considered as a fundamental in creating or replenishing terminological database for a certain branch of knowledge. It also helps present the orthodontic terminology as a well-ordered system of knowledge.)
