Анотація
Переклад як єдність процесу й результату дискурсотворчої діяльності досліджується через зіставлення складових концептів вихідного й цільового текстів, виявляються когнітивні механізми перекладацької діяльності, зокрема,
стратегії й тактики перекладу.
(Translation as a unity of process and result viewed as discourse creation activity is investigated through the comparison of the components of the source and target texts concepts. The methodological basis of this research has been laid down by the achievements of cognitive linguistics and text linguistics which have developed the understanding of text as a concept – multidimensional
cultural and meaningful dynamic socio-psychic formation in the collective consciousness, objectified by the language signs. Developing the notion of translation as a three-stage process, the cognitive content of each stage of translation is presented in the following way: (1) the interpretation phase – transformation of the original text language semantics into a cognitive
structure – an integrative conceptual image of the original – the concept of the text; (2) conceptual transfer – the projection of the source text concept onto the worldview of the target language, detection of zones of identity, compatibility or lacunas and search for the ways to fill them in. This is aimed at forming a global strategy of translation and creation of conceptual structure of the target text; (3) the implementation stage involves the correlation of integral text concept with discrete linguistic reality of the source text, detection of the fragments that require translator’s strategic decisions, definition of local strategies, tactics and techniques of translation, resulting in the selection and use of translation counterparts and transformations.
Comparative cognitive analysis of the original and Ukrainian translation of «The Last Leaf» by O.Henry has discovered the most complete retention of the denotative conceptual core and the value stratum, with the depletion of imagery and associative array – the result of implementation of the strategy of content rather than artistic form.)
