Анотація
У статті досліджуються основні види безеквівалентної лексики сучасної англійської мови та перекладацькі прийоми, які можна застосовувати для перекладу даного виду лексики. Наукова новизна полягає в тому, що робиться спроба узагальнити накопичений досвід з вивчення даної проблеми і ввести до наукового обігу найбільш релевантне для теорії та практики перекладу уявлення про безеквівалентність як про явище відносне за своєю природою і суттю.
(The article deals with the basic kinds of culture-specific vocabulary of modern English and basic approaches which can
be used for translation of this kind of vocabulary. Scientific novelty lies in the fact that we tried to summarize the experience of studying this problem and introduce the most relevant definition of culture-specific vocabulary. On the basis of the conducted research, the following definition of culture-specific vocabulary was formulated – words that serve to express the concepts in
one language and are absent in another culture and language, the words that relate to specific cultural elements, the cultural elements that are typical only for A culture and are absent in culture B, as well as words with no translation into another language, have no equivalent outside of language to which they belong.)
