Анотація

У статті розглянуто основні характеристики композитів як продуктивного способу словотворення в англійській мові, описано класифікацію композита як феномену, подано результати лінгвістичного дослідження графічного зображення композитів та частотності їх використання в сучасної англійської мові (на матеріалах Британського національного корпусу текстів (BNC). Виділено основні характеристики копулятивних, аппозиційних, ендоцентричних та екзоцентричних композитів.
(The purpose of the article was to examine the phenomenon of composite (compound) as the productive mean of word-formation in English. The classification of the phenomenon of composites in English is analysed. The results of the linguistic research of the frequency of English composites are given (based on the British National Corpus (BNC). The key features of copulative, appositional, endocentric and exocentric compounds are revealed. The authors focus more on the tendency to the forming of composites that appeared in English language in ancient times. This is an economical way to mark different realia and notions of material and spiritual life of the society at current stage of the development. During the research it was determined that both the stem of the word and derivate can become the components of composites. Reinterpret words often are the parts of composites and they have great influence on its stylistic meaning. Figurativeness and expressiveness of composites relate to semantic consistence of their models. Undoubtedly, the authors accept that the further analysis of some peculiarities of inner structures of composites is necessary.)
