Анотація

У статті уточнено сутність поняття й типи іронії, лінгвістичні засоби вираження іронічних смислів у художньому дискурсі; проаналізовано лінгвостилістичні засоби реалізації іронії у творах Гектора Манро на лексико-семантичному та лексико-синтаксичному мовних рівнях.
(The article specifies the essence of the concept and types of irony, linguistic means of expressing ironic meaning in the literary discourse. It states that irony is not only a linguistic, but also a philosophical and aesthetic phenomenon rendering evaluative aesthetic subjective attitude towards reality, and characterized by a versatile structure of expression. The investigation conducted on the problem allows pointing out two basic approaches to its study: stylistic and pragmatic ones. Both approaches found reflection in literary works by Hector Munro who is known for a caustic language, ironic sharp-cut style, and sullen, even black humour. The author’s work is characterized by maximal confluence of the writer with the represented epoch, enabling a reader to get acquainted with the English society in all its variety. Literary works by H. Munro are characterized by two types of irony: microtextual, based on contraposition within a microcontext, quite often in terms of only one expression; and macrotextual, based on context that exceeds a minimum unit of the text and embraces all the text body. Applying continuous linguistic analysis and quantitative methods of research, we found out that the author’s ironical meanings aremost brightly expressed on the lexical and lexico-syntactic levels via the epithet, hyperbole and metaphor. On the lexico-syntactic level an essential role is given to the antithesis and simile.)
