Анотація

Література української діаспори завжди виконувала важливу місію євроінтеграції національної культури. Особливо переконливо це засвідчує творчість представників
еміграції третьої хвилі, зумовленої Другою світовою війною, і передусім модерні інтенції
членів об’єднання МУР. Ще досі можна знайти твердження про безґрунтянство цілої когорти письменників, які опинились у вакуумі, оскільки, з одного боку, вони втратили зв’язки з питомим вітчизняним корінням, а, з іншого, не влилась в мейнстрим пошуків
європейських літераторів.
(The article is devoted to the works of the Ukrainian diaspora writer Igor Kostetsky, whose plays are analyzed in light of the major trends in world drama of the twentieth century, particularly in the context of the metadramatic theory. The specific features of
metadrama are doubling of theater space (play within the play), usage of theatrical techniques of
different epochs, exposure of stage conventions, dialogic interaction between actor and role, the
actor and the audience, etc. It is emphasized that Kostetsky's professional relationship with the
theater and his theatrical articles are the prerequisite for the specific experiments in his literary
work. For example, the play „Twins Will Meet Again” contains the use of masks, duplication,
theater play, etc. The main attention is paid to the play „A Play about a Great Man”, in which the
poetics of metadrama is realized through the use of intertextual elements ceremonies, theatrical
allusions, peculiar interpretation of the genre of mystery, etc. It is important that the play
concerns the issues of self-identification of characters and their awareness of own dual nature.
Thus Igor Kostecky managed to find the original form for the transmission of the creative atmosphere for te person in exile.)
