Abstract

Стаття присвячена осмисленню феномену тіла в інтерпретації Лесі Українкидраматурга. Основну увагу зосереджено на таких творах, як «Кассандра», «Камінний господар», «У пущі», «Лісова пісня», «Оргія», «Руфін і Прісцілла».
(The article deals with the phenomenon of corporeality, which often is marginalized in researching
of Lesya Ukrainka’s creativity. More than that, writer’s works are mainly associated with apologetics of
spirituality.
The study focuses on determining the types of representation of corporeality in the dramatic
works of Lesya Ukrainka, as well as on the textual rereading of «language of body» of her characters.
The argument for such research is the poetic vocabulary of the author who often uses the lexeme «body».
The focus of the article is on such works as «Cassandra», «Stone Master», «In the Forest», «Forest Song»,
«Rufin and Priscilla».
In the dramas of Lesya Ukrainka, the triad «spirit-soul-body» functions in a variety of ways, and
the writer does not ignore corporeality, she sees in it the regular component of structure of a person. An
important problem in the author’s works is the alienation of the body. Repeatedly the writer breaks the
theme «Body and Art». Much attention is paid to body codes, movements, gestures, facial expressions,
which are not always consistent with statements of characters. Lesya Ukrainka’s views on the physicality
seem to be controversy, though taking into account many texts and positions of heroes allows us to see
a well-considered author's concept. The writer strongly denied both repression and self-repression of the
body due to a variety of discriminatory ideas and taboos, especially in the field of art and sexuality.)
