Анотація

Статтю присвячено аналізу концепції екзистенціальної межової ситуації в хронотопній структурі роману М. Юрсенар «Філософський камінь». У часопросторі роману було виявлено образи закритого простору (образи кімнати, тюремної камери, притулку) як ворожі до протагоніста-мандрівника, а також просторові образи з аспектом межовості, переходу – вікна, дзеркала, темної води. Ці образи є художньою реалізацією межових ситуацій життєвого шляху протагоніста Зенона.
(This article is dedicated to the analysis of the conception of existential limit situation in the chronotope structure of the «The Abyss» by M. Yourcenar, which is considered to be one of the masterpieces of philosophical and intellectual prose of the XX century. This historical novel is dedicated to the theme of the search of self-identity that is incarnated in the spatial image of the journey in European scenery of XVI century. The loneliness of the protagonist-traveller Zeno and his opposition to the environment are one of the dominant motives of the novel. The decisions made by the character at a young age demonstrate his discontent with the church clerk’s way of life that was prepared for him in the future. On the poetological level this aspect
is realised in constant changes of the protagonist’s space and the dichotomy of the closed / open space. In the spatial model of the novel images of the closed space (images of the room, prison cell, harbour) as those that are estrange for the protagonisttraveller Zeno were found. Spatial images with the aspect of limit, transition – those of the window, mirror, dark water that are the artistic implementation of the limit situations on Zeno’s path of life were discovered as well.)
